If traffic exchanges are part of your strategy to get traffic, there is one thing to understand concerning them and using an ad tracker: Don't! For emails and other things it works great, but it actually does harm to the traffic exchange business.
The reason why, is just like every other aspect of the Internet: it takes too long for the page to appear. There is a delay of a few seconds when you use an ad tracker which can cost you clicks, and as a result - sales and subscribers.
What happens is that ad trackers use a redirect to count your clicks. So when someone clicks on the ad tracker URL, they are directed invisibly to the ad tracking site first and from there are sent to the your site.
Like I said, the problem is that the redirect takes too long to happen. It has been proven that just 3 to 5 seconds more on an ad exchange will destroy your conversion rate.
The answer to the problem is really simple. Just use the provided statistics offered by the exchanges you use. Why lose money because exchange statistics may not be 100% exact?
After all, ad trackers only reveal who it is that visited the site. If the visitor closes their browser or goes to another site before they are redirected, they probably don't even see your site in the first place.
Trackers are great for a lot of things, but with traffic exchanges they can hurt you far more than help you. You want the traffic to get to your landing page as soon as possible.
