The great strength of the Internet is that you can try things for relatively little cost and time and see if it will work or not. If it doesn't work, don't hang around the thing and try to force it to do something. Just leave it and go on to the next thing.
A major reason that we hang around some of our products or services for too long is that attach ourselves to some of them personally; we get a personal stake in it and don't want to let it go. This is a huge mistake. Don't fall in love with something until you prove it will work, and even then let it only be a summer romance. Most things will have runs for a season and will back off. Just go on!
The best way to deal with it is to know that it isn't the end of the world or the end of your business. There are times when products or services will just fail. The mistake isn't the failure, but in wallowing in the failure and wasting valuable time trying to resurrect it or kicking yourself because it didn't work.
All of that is a waste of time. You'll be surprised how quickly you can get that out of your system if you just focus on another thing that you've been working on and apply yourself toward that. In a very short time you won't even remember the thing that didn't work.
Only keep in mind that you need to give the idea a fair shot. After that, respond according to its performance, whether your going to keep it going, or trash it and move on.
