
According to Hitwise, online traffic to the top ten video sites increased over 164 percent during the last three months (from February 25 to May 20). YouTube has driven 43 percent of that traffic alone.
Of the half a million Web sites that Hitwise measures, YouTube was ranked number 42 among them all. The share of YouTube's visits has increased by over 160 percent over the last three months.
LeeAnn Prescott, senior research analyst at Hitwise said "The rapid growth of online video sites in the past six months demonstrates a major shift in online behavior, the internet is quickly moving from static web pages to an environment rich with interaction and user-generated multimedia content."

The social networking leader MySpace sent over 20 percent of YouTube's traffic in February and March, until MySpace launched its own video sharing service by puting a "videos" link of every profile page at the end of March.
Right now people are watching more of YouTube as it averages 13 minutes 20 seconds per visit versus MySpace's Video 4 minutes 41 second.
