We recently talked about a Pew Internet & American Life Project survey. It revealed that approximately 60 million Americans used the Web to help them in making important decisions in their lives during the last two years. Another result of the survey showed that only 5 percent of the users were dissatisfied with the information they found. That is a high rate of customer satisfaction: 95 percent!
Of course this reveals that the Internet is becoming the key tool of choice for those looking for valuable information and it is working great.
Now the reason I'm bringing this up again is to talk a little about content. One of the things that most people and online marketers think of when they hear the word 'content' is reading an article, listening to music or watching a video.
All of this is content, but I want to zero in on the text side of content for a moment. Surprisingly, when you think of it, general articles are only a small part of text content. When you look for weather reports in the region you live in, do you realize that the results are 'content'?
What about searching for a hotel, old friends, political stability in a country you want to visit etc.? All of the results are usually text content.
The whole reason for bringing this up is to get you to think outside the box of text content being an article about a subject only. There are a lot of things you could offer as content that users are looking for that may have nothing to do with article writing but can be offered as searchable text to be looked for. Are there things you've used as text content that isn't an article? Tell us what you've done in this area.
