According to a report by blogcritics.org, Technorati and AP finalized a deal today that will provide bloggers access to over 440 AP newspapers.
The official Technorati blog said this:
"Several months ago we and The Associated Press began to talk about how citizen-generated media could enhance the AP in their mission to be "the essential global news network." Increasingly, what the blogosphere says about a news story becomes part of a more complete story, lending diverse perspectives and often expert commentary. The AP believed it was increasingly important to deliver the living blogosphere as a compliment to their core professional news product."
How it will work is that when an article is read, the viewer will be able to see who it is that is blogging about a specific article from Technorati's blog search being integrated into the AP article.
This could be a huge traffic builder for bloggers. The only thing I didn't like in some of the comments made was the implication that bloggers needed the newspapers to give them "a voice from trusted newspapers across the nation."
I don't think I'm alone in saying that us bloggers don't need newspapers to make us credible. While this can give some individual bloggers some big traffic increases, they need us more than we need them. Don't you agree?
