Ziff Davis Game Group, the largest publisher of electronic gaming magazines and websites in the United States, reaching over 11 million gamers online and over 17 million gamers in print, has announced that it has launched the beta version of GameVideos.com, as a primary source for any video that is related to the gaming culture.
According to Mark MacDonald, Director of GameVideos.com "Our mission is to provide gamers a resource where they can find the most entertaining and important video in gaming culture, GameVideos.com goes way beyond game trailers; it's about gaming culture at large. We've built a destination where the gaming community can share and discuss the most sought-after videos in gaming."
They are positioning themselves as the only website that will include all video that is related to all of gaming culture - "past, present, and future." They are also putting themselves in the place of actively pursuing user-content as the central theme of the site. They want the gaming community to upload their coolest video clips.
The site will also include original programming which will present the 1UP Show, and the popular "journalism reality show" which of course stars the editors of the 1UP Network.
1UP Network currently reaches over 20 million serious gamers combining both their print and online outlets. This is a strategy that will merge with the growing online trend of social networking through the ability of its core audience to talk and share and blog about the various videos offered, while featuring their own exclusive content.
The strategy is of course to create a growing community of contributors which can be reached by advertisers in this expanding market.
