
Opera released its upgraded version of its browser on Thursday in response to the upcoming Microsoft (MSFT) release of its Internet Explorer 7.0. It has added some feature that will be sure to impress their enthusiasts.
This particular version will include widgets, which allows users' desktops to access small web based applications. They will incude games to streaming news. They now have official support for BitTorrent, the file-sharing technology.
You will also be allowed to start downloading large files directly from within the browser instead of being made to search from a sparate application again.
Jon S. von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera added "We're proud to release this Beta of Opera 9 to Web users around the world, Opera 9 brings powerful new features to enhance the Web browsing experience and empower Web 2.0 developers. Opera 9 unlocks new levels of productivity for the Internet ecosystem."
Developers will now be able to develop their personal applications with no need to be concerned with an Operating System. The ability to customize the search engine of your choice is also part of this new offering.
There is also a Thumbnail preview feature that let's users preview tabs that they have been opened. The rich text-editing feature has also been enhanced so that users will be able to edit their Web mail or blogging services the way that they desire.
The beta version is available free for Windows, Macintosh OS X and Linux systems.
