
Lionhead has become the newest acquisition to enter the Microsoft Game Studios group, being sold to the platform holder for an undisclosed amount of money.
Microsoft is also keeping silent concerning the titles that Lionhead will be working on, although it is thought that they will probably be announced soon at E3.
Microsoft and Lionhead have worked together before on the popular Xbox title Fable, which sold over 2 million games to this day including the updated Fable: The Lost Chapters. which makes it the best-selling game on the Xbox platform.
Lionhead CEO Peter Molyneux said that "We could not be more excited about being part of MGS, they have long supported our creative vision, and this teamwork resulted in the hugely successful 'Fable' franchise."
"This acquisition gives Lionhead the stability and opportunity to focus on creating world-class next generation titles," he continued. "We are joining some of the most incredible studios in the industry, the combined talent of which will truly take next generation gaming to a new level."
Shane Kim, Microsoft Game Studios executive said of Lionhead that "Peter Molyneux is one of the few true visionaries in our industry, and joining us is incredibly important to the future of both interactive entertainment and MGS."
With Microsoft confirming the acquisition of UK developer Lionhead this morning, Rob Fahey talked to EMEA Xbox Platform and Marketing executive Richard Teversham to learn more about the firm's plans for Lionhead. Here is the interview...
