My grandfather asked that I drive him from
Though the drive down was rushed, I cherished every minute of the time I had to spend with my grandpa in which he told story after story of his political and ecclesiastical negotiations and business dealings in Mexico back in the good old days. Every road, river, mountain, and bend along the way accompanied a captivating story from his personal life or from the history of the land.
During one of our pit stops I found that the rest rooms were not clearly labeled. It was impossible to make out which side was for women or men. Fortunately I choose right. Unfortunate for the guy after me, he chose wrong :-P
This reminded me of a common conversation I have with my wife every time we go clothes shopping for her. I tell her “if your clothing stores would just set apart a small area towards the back as an ESPN lounge they would make so much more money. No real need for a fancy lounge, just a TV and a few chairs.”
Think about it. Women’s clothing stores are designed solely for women. But, what does the woman do? She brings her significant other to tell her that what she is trying on looks good. What happens to him? He is bored out of his mind in such a boring place and pressures her to leave every change he gets.
How does this tie into the web? Do we, or should we, think about the few men who will visit a female-focused web sites and vise versa? Do you have any examples of businesses or industries that could do a better job at involving both genders to increase revenue? Add your comments to this post to share your point of view.
