Guy Kawasaki and Darren Rowse say they don't make much money on their blogs! - part 5

handm.jpgThis post I'll show you one of the secrets to monetizing blogs and websites. Most online marketers that make good income practice this. When I first started out, I made the mistake of not doing it and it cost me a lot of sales at first.

The mistake was that I gave away too much good information. I had spent years in business, real estate, finances and consulting, and I would write these articles talking about a whole bunch of stuff I knew and had been successful at. The problem was, I gave away so much information, that the visitors weren't clicking on the offerings I had that were my moneymakers.

So what did I do? I started only writing stuff that would wet the appetites of my readers and have the offerings available on the appropriate web pages that would give them the opportunity to search further into the subject. Once I did this it was amazing how much more money I started to make.

That is one of the secrets that successful webmasters have known and practiced for years. In other words our articles and posts need to be teasers that cause a reader to want more. It is there that they click on ads or offerings and where the money is made.

I hope you don't think this sounds to simple, but it is. In our current market of consumers, they desire low impact advertising that is offered with great value. They want to be able to get quality, free information, and if they're interested from reading it, the opportunity to purchase more.

This isn't the end-all answer to everything, but it is one of the great success marketing strategies used by those that are greatly successful with monetizing their blogs and their websites.

Now this is the reason why Guy and Darren don't make much money on those two respective sites; at least in Darren's case, I don't think that it is even the purpose of the site. Guy is probably thinking the same thing.

Here are the two articles that Guy and Darren wrote. Check them out in the light of what we've talked about in these several posts, and they will tell you alot about strategies for your success.
