After a time of testing in international markets, Yahoo! is starting up its Phone In and Phone Out services integrated with its Yahoo! Messenger service. The customers in the U.S. will not have to wait any longer to participate. To take advantage of these new services, you need to download the new client (which can be found at http://messenger.yahoo.com).
With the Phone In service package, subscribers get a personal phone number for getting incoming calls to their PC which originate from regular phone lines and mobiles too. Included with the package will also be the ability to receive unlimited domestic call for $2.99 a month or $29.90 for the year.
Included with the Phone Out service, subscribers are able to make PC-to-phone calls not only within the U.S. but also to 30 other countries for only 2 cents a minute. You will also be able to make international calls to 180 other countries, where rates differ depending upon which country you make the call to.
While the Yahoo! Messenger PC-to-PC calls will remain free, there are also some other free services that are now included with it. For example now there will be a new Contact Search Bar in the interface and free voicemail for Phone in Calls and the PC-to-PC calls.
