Skype rolls out new service for Small Businesses

skype.pngSkype, a global Internet communications company, announce Thursday that they a new answer for businesses called Skype for Business.

Finanzen.net reports that it will "help small businesses easily manage communications, improve productivity and reduce costs. Skype for Business expands existing Skype small business offerings to include: Skype for Business Web site, a resource dedicated to business support; new Skype hardware from Plantronics; and new features in Skype for Business Control Panel (formerly named Skype Groups) to simplify management of grouped users and pre-paidservices."

This particular offering is aimed at businesses with less than 10 employees, the largest market segment that Skype serves. It is available now at skype.biz.

Niklas Zennstrom, Skype co-founder and CEO said "We know from listening to our more than 75 million customers that 30 percent of them are regularly using Skype for their businesses and most of these are small companies. Skype is dedicated to being the champion of these companies by making it incredibly easy for them to be productive, save money and have access to a sophisticated global communications solution that helps them compete."

SKYPE FOR BUSINESS FEATURES

It will enable adminstrators to more easily manage their company-wide paid services and usability tool. The business control panel will be available in 18 languages and 6 currencies.The Business Control Panel also offers a new auto-management tool that will allow administrators to make huge credit purchases to one account while at the same time distributing Skype credits, topping-off all customer accounts. The Skype credits are able to be used with Skype premium offerings which include SkypeIn, SkypeOut, voicemail, personalization and third-party conference calls.

CERTIFIED BUSINESS HARDWARE

Alongside of this Plantronics announced Thursday its Internet-optimized Voyager 510 Bluetooth headset featuring a plug-and-play USB Bluetoothvoice adapter.

Plantronics EMEA Managing Director Philip Vanhoutte said that, "Skype for Business coupled with our new Bluetoothheadset is the ultimate tool for small businesses, you no longer need to carry a multitude of devices. Our Voyager 510 Bluetooth headsetsolution is multipoint, allowing customers to switch seamlessly between mobile phone and Internet calls."
