You must list your company in Google/Yahoo Local

gloc.jpgThe days where the Internet is considered primarily a global market are over forever. You as an owner of a local business need to understand the advantage you get from being listed in the local areas of Google and Yahoo.

Why Google and Yahoo specifically? They account for close to 80% of all online search results.

This is one of those things that you just can't pass up. One of the weaknesses of being a business owner is that you can get so busy working in your business that you forget to work on your business.

There is an occasional time when the opportunity to advance your business presents itself and you can't afford to pass it up: this is one of those times.

Don't think that you need to have a web site to take advantage of this because you don't. You still are allowed to list your business.

What is so important about this? There is an upsurge in Internet users searching for local profits. Think of it. Why would Google and Yahoo among many others, get into local search? Because consumers are demanding it. They don't want to only use the Internet to send for stuff, they also want to be able to purchase thinks locally, thus their going to the Internet search engines to find them.

In recent surveys it is estimated that already 25% of all Internet searches are now local in focus.

The bottom line is that more people are turning away from the inconvenient yellow pages and are adapting to the resources of the Internet. Who is going to get the local business of those searching online? Those who are listed there, that's who.

Is it very difficult to list your business? For the most part it should take you less than an hour. It's very simple with the typical contact information being asked for and you can further the information with things like the types of products and services you offer, brands carried, any specials you may have and payment methods along with a number of other things you are given the option of listing.

Not only this but both Google and Yahoo offer a local interactive map that customers can use for finding where you specifically do business.

While it is better to have a web site of course, if you don't both of these services offer you a free, basic one you can take advantage of until you get one of your own.

This is a hot opportunity for you as not too many businesses are taking advantage of this skyrocketing trend. The great majority of businesses get a higher return on their investments with an online business presence.

The future of most local business will be determined on how good you will be in reaching customers online. This is an excellent ways to get going.
