In a lot of my online wonderings around blogs, forums, websites and all various communities and ways to communicate online, I still find many people believing that the best strategy to start a business with is to find the largest market possible and attack that.
Not only is it a mistake among newcomers to the scene, but many that are attempting to take things to the next level. The question to ask yourself is this: Will marketing to a larger group of people be more profitable then finding ways to market other products and services to my existing customer base? The answer to that question will determine your success.
I am going to reveal to you right now what one of the closely guarded secrets of success in any business there is: learn how to mine your existing customer base! It's that easy? It's that simple?
The concept is yes, and even the operations of it are. The more challenging part is to find products and services that appeal to those existing customers.
Here's another secret: Once people commit themselves to you and trust you, they want a bigger and bigger piece of you. By you I mean the products and services you offer. Trust is the determing factor here.
Basically the way to do this is to have offerings from introductory, lower-priced products or services, to high-end, higher priced ones. Each of them will appeal to something that your customers want or need.
Just think of what the demographics of your current customers are. What types of products or services would they desire? Here's another tip that I repeat throughout all of my writings and blogs - just ask them! Whatever means that you have at your disposal, ask them what other types of needs they have and what they would desire to have those needs met.
Sound too easy? It's not. Do these few things and just watch your business take off in every way.
