1. Specific Plan. He had an exact plan of how he wanted to market. His strategy was simple in that he was going to be a price leader. That’s not the only successful strategy, but it is significant that he had one and stuck with it.

2. Understood the Business. According to one of his mentors, he has a concise understanding of the business.

3. Controlled Overhead. He started with almost no overhead, selling out of his small apartment. In other words he didn’t get tempted to get extravagant.

4. Sought out Mentors. Once he had these in place and was making money, he sought out mentors to help him bring it to the next level.

5. Deferred to Mentors. He not only sought out mentors, but deferred to them as those he recognized could help fill in those things about business he didn’t know.
