Here is something that a lot of online businesses don’t think of enough, and that is the value of the repeat visitor to their site as one of the best traffic generators there are.
One of the basic things to success in business is understanding that the cost to get a new customer is far more than it is to sell to an existing one.
The same applies online. Many times our efforts are so much on getting new traffic sources that we neglect, at our peril, those that we already have.
Those that are repeat visitors have found something that they like with what you offer. And that is why they want to come back again and again. There are a small number of sites that I visit regularly because of that very reason. Now there are three basic ways that you can get visitors coming back over and over again.
One is through having some type of product that you give away for free in the right way. For example I have written and given away quality EBooks on my site that had reminders and links within it that would bring people back over and over again. The key there is quality. They went back to the book over and over again for good information, and as a result always saw the reminders before them.
A second way to get the repeat visitors is to have a good follow-up or sequential autoresponder system set up. This delivers information at regular intervals that you don’t have to do much with once it’s set up right. This brings lots of repeat traffic.
Of course the last but not least is the ezine that a person can send at intervals throughout the month; giving timely, relevant, quality information that your readers can use.
Underlying all of this is the need to produce new content on your site on a consistant basis. After all, if you do all this, and people come, if they find it the same every time, they will stop coming no matter how many different ways you remind them.

Great tips, Gary.
