An easy to understand call to action

This goes along, in a certain way, with our last post where we talked about things being extremely easy to navigate on your site.

In a similar way the action that you want the customer to take is just as important in its need for clarity. Whatever you want the customer to do, you must tell them very specifically how it is to be done.

This is one of those areas if you aren’t completely clear on what it is you want the customer to do, they’ll just leave the page. This has been found to happen in shopping carts over and over again. Anything at all that confuses the customer will make them leave. A confused customer doesn’t buy. Don’t leave any reason for the slightest doubt on what it is you want them to do.

Once you know that what you are asking is not able to be confusing to the customer, then make sure that what you want them to do is so easy that a young child could do it.

Whatever the product or service, when you want them to buy, point specifically to the action you want them to take like this:

“Click here now to order…whatever product or service.”

Then right there with it give an explanation of what to expect when they click on the link to get them there. I have personally left more than one site I wanted to buy from because I just wasn’t sure if I was where I was supposed to be or not.

Not only did they not give any explanation before I got there, but when I got there I still wasn’t sure if I was in the right spot neither did I know what to do. A confused customer doesn’t buy! Don’t let lack of clarity and communication cause you to lose customers that really wanted what you have to offer.
