4 Tips to Turn People into Repeat Visitors

visi.jpg

One of the major mistakes online marketers still make is to assume a visitor will bookmark their website because they like it. If you’re like me at all, I have found a number of great sites that I visited that I completely forgot to bookmark and even its name. There was no way to find it again once I left and thought of it later.

It is part of our responsibility as marketers to offer your visitors a reason to hang around a while for no other reason to remember who we are online.

Here are 4 tips to help you turn visitors into regular readers and customers of your site.

a

1. Keep a continuous flow of new content. If someone has visited your site once is there reason to visit it again. New articles and stories on a continuous basis will guarantee that those that already like your articles will come back to check for new material again.

2. Offer a newsletter or mailing list. I still rank this as one of the greatest marketing weapons you can have in your arsenal. People have to have something to remind them to visit your site. With a newsletter being emailed on a regular basis, you are reaching them with something that they check daily. One way to make them complement your website is to put a portion of the article in the ezine and then a link to the website to finish the article. I know when someone does that with me I appreciate it because I can look at the headline in the email and see if I’m interested in reading the rest. If I am I go there and usually always click around to see if there is anything else of interest.

3. Offer resources. If you provide tools or resources for your visitors on a regular basis, they will make sure to come and check over and over again to see what they are or if there are any new ones.

4. Provide interactivity. Give an option to give an opinion, join a discussion group or chat with others of similar interests and you have the makings of a community of people that each wants to spend time with and will come to your site over and over again to do just that.

There you have it. Four ways to make your site “sticky” and keep your visitors wanting to come back again and again to see what you have to offer. By offering a steadily updated site that is rich in content and resources and interactive, you are laying the foundation to turn your visitors into lifetime members and customers.
